Currin J. Van Eman brings more than 35 years of experience in commercial real estate brokerage, development, and private equity investment to Commercial Industrial Properties (CIP). He has represented clients across all major asset classes, including development land, retail and restaurant, office and medical office, self storage, multifamily, and industrial. His career includes partnership and executive leadership roles at several respected Texas real estate firms, such as UCR Urban (now CBRE), VRA Commercial Real Estate, NAI REOC, and Capella Commercial. He also served as Senior Vice President and Director of Acquisitions for an Austin based Real Estate private equity firm.


Among his most notable achievements, Currin exclusively represented the seller in the landmark sale of the 1.3 million square foot Hill Country Galleria to institutional buyers Invesco and CALSTRS. The $300 million plus transaction earned him the Austin Business Journal’s award for the largest retail deal of 2015. His practice today spans urban and suburban development land, retail and restaurant site selection and leasing, and office leasing. He has negotiated high profile restaurant leases in downtown Austin for concepts such as The Capital Grille, RA Sushi, Searsucker, and Crave, and has led site selection efforts across major Texas markets for well known restaurant groups including Front Burner Concepts, Free Range Concepts, and Blackfinn.


Currin’s development work includes recently completing an aircraft hangar lot subdivision at Spicewood Airport and entitlement, design, engineering and sale of a Class A self storage development site on Highway 71 in Spicewood. Over the course of his career, he has been involved in more than $1 billion in commercial real estate transactions and has directed the acquisition, repositioning, and management of over three million square feet of commercial real estate assets. He also has extensive experience sourcing and raising equity and debt capital for acquisitions and development projects.


Currin is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Economics and Business and the Executive Education Program at Harvard Business School - Negotiation and Competitive Decision Making. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon “Sig Ep” Fraternity and now a lifetime member of the of the University of Texas at Austin Alumni Association - Texas Exes. Currin is a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker, a member of ICSC, the Central Texas Commercial Association of Realtors, and the Real Estate Council of Austin. Born in Houston, TX and nearly a lifetime Austin resident, Currin enjoys traveling, spending time with his wife Jena and their blended family, attending Texas Longhorns and Denver Broncos football games, snow skiing and hiking in Colorado, and boating on the area’s lakes.
